Losing Weight In A Natural Way - I did not take any weight loss supplements.

Hello everyone,I am back. I have stopped posting for what seems like a while ago.I had always been bigger growing up.I was always 'bigger' than other kids my age. This blog is to show my progress and I felt like i hadn't gone anywhere. I couldn't see any changes in the mirror even though my weight was dropping rapidly. I could only see changes when I looked at photos of my progress. Picture below is some results seen after years of hardwork.

That was me, almost 3 years back. I really can't even begin to believe I used to be that big. It's really crazy how I did not realize back then. I do not mean that I am slim now but I am slowly achieving the body I have always dreamed of and of course being in an ideal weight category. I am not always healthy. I have tried all sort of things with mixed results. There are times where I did not gain weight and I didn't lose either. To be really honest here, I did not consume any weight loss supplements where so many people out there thought i did. I did not go to slimming centres either. Without either of those, you can still be able to lose weight in a healthy way.

Supplements that make grand promises sounds too good to be true,it probably is.Unlike makers of prescription drugs, companies that make supplements don't have to prove that their products are safe or effective before putting them in the market.Even products that claim to be natural aren't necessarily safe or good. If you're thinking about taking any weight loss products, I would ask you better don't go on diet (do not feel offended, just saying). It's best to focus on what's proven for work for weight loss, including your diet. When it comes to cleanses or detoxification, they cause weight loss from water and stool weight but they can be dangerous. They carry risks of dehydration. Losing lots of fluid without medical supervision is risky and when it's combined with starving/fasting, even riskier. Instead of detoxifying, be more mindful of what you eat. If you want to cleanse or detoxify your water, drink plenty of water and eat lots of high-fiber foods.Isn't it more meaningful if you lose weight naturally?

I realized that the only way I would actually be able to ensure that this journey was not just a DIET game but an entire lifestyle makeover, eat healthy and nutritious and focus on total body health. My weight continued to fall over.As I got 'smaller' , I began to work harder. There were times when I thought I couldn't do it.

Back then , I had BMI of 39.8, firmly in the obese class II category( it was like getting hit by a truck). I was at the end of the scale. My risk of developing obesity-related problems are high. Right now, I have come to almost the middle of the scale.I am so near to being in an ideal weight category.Yes,only a few kilograms away.I really can't begin to imagine how I went through this. It's not that difficult, just how you play the game. I guess I played it right.

Recently,I joined back blogspot because I wanted something where I could tell my story and follow other people on a similar journey and also reaffirm my goals with fitspirational images and quotes. I am now just working on eating a healthy balanced diet and exercise for at least three days a week. Looking back on when I started,I could never imagine myself coming this far. It has been a long journey. I am starting to get to the stage when I look in the mirror and I can honestly say I am starting to love the person I see looking back at me. HAHAHA!

I am quite happy with my progress but my inner thighs have noticeable fat no matter how much weight I lose they still remain there, but of course compared to before,it is so much better now. Right now,I'm following a program that includes squats, dead lifts, lunges and step ups while holding heavy weights. If you have any experiences of losing inner thighs fat,do leave your comments below or email me at chermaineccyee@gmail.com

Quality Over Quantity - Eat Smart .

Just in case you forgot how I used to look like, here is the gentle reminder. There's the previous me on the left and the current me on the right. I love delivering shock-factor pictures like these cos they're always so fun. Especially when you found out that you are no longer the person you used to be. I embrace my past because it has made me a better person.

I'm so afraid that I might put on weight during my semester break and I would accidentally let my strength slip again and have my weight rebound back up. Surprisingly, after almost a month of my break,I haven't gained any weight in fact I've lost weight. My hips and waist got smaller. HAHAHA! But of course , hard work paid off. I usually go to gym at least thrice a week. I love how the treadmill putting me in shape. Even though the new fitness program is seriously killing me,I still enjoy doing it. 5km run on the treadmill is a must in the gym,in my case.

Generally I try to eat healthier and fresher meals. On days when I really feel like eating something unhealthy, for example, chicken chop rice,I try my best to substitute it with the next best thing.I decided to cook on my own because it is healthier to eat homecooked meals. I don't say it is carb free but it is still delicious ( sustainable dieting is key ) and relatively good for you compared to the deep fried variety you get at the western food restaurants out there.

Let us move to the pictures below :

It has been ages ago since I had this amount of rice. Rice is rich in carbohydrates and it's really fattening. I would normally have this amount of rice back then - days when I haven't started on my diet journey.

Instead of having a big bowl of rice, I would go for three tablespoons. So picture below is my portion of rice. I don't rarely take rice but when I do, I will always go for three tablespoons, never more than that.

When it comes to chicken, chicken chop always comes with whole chicken thigh.I had chicken breast instead of thighs. Chicken thighs have skin and dark meat, they are often maligned as being unhealthy. Chicken breasts on the other hand are composed of white meat and thought of as a healthier option. With the exception of one or two areas, breasts and thighs actually do not differ that much in nutrient content.

Chicken thighs = Protein + Fat

Chicken breast = Protein

Picture below is my homemade chicken chop ( breast ) with my three tablespoons of rice and broccoli. Craving fixed, in a healthier way. :)

Here's the normal chicken chop rice I made for my family. They have brown sauce on the whole chicken thigh with a normal portion of rice with egg and broccoli. It is highly not recommended to those who are on diet.

I realized that after awhile of trying to control my diet, I don't have to give up good taste if  I am on a moderated diet. I can be losing weight and yet be eating all sorts of food that I love. I just have to eat smart and choose quality over quantity. Sustainable dieting means something you can keep doing for months on end without feeling you're on the brink of starvation or depriving yourself. Now that I'm lighter, healthier and eating better, I feel amazing. I'm thankful that I'm easier on the eyes these days, too. No need to worry about layers of fat folding around my stomach when I sit down or bend over and I love being able to fit into nice clothes which I couldn't wear  last time.I'm still not totally contented with my body and weight. One thing, always remember, choose quality over quantity.

Have a nice day! :)

Yummy but fattening.

Hello everyone, if you have been reading my blog for awhile, you'd know that I have been battling with my weight issues for some time ago.Even though I have lost a considerable amount of weight since, I am still very far from my ideal physique. Chubby and flabby everywhere. But sometimes, I have to take a deep breath when I end up being with an extreme dieter. ( I used to be one. I guess I am still one.) No junk , no processed anything, no sugar . It is as if it has become a real badge of honor to deny yourself anything other than food with "perfect labels".

I have not eaten chicken chop for a long time, until yerterday, i indulged in a thigh ( i cut out the drumstick and shared it with my dad) . Mum made a very fattening food for dinner last night.

These two chicken chops ( marinated with honey, red wine, rosemary, oyster sauce) are getting ready to broil.  Broiling is better than roasting because broiling is typically only used to brown the tops. However, this is a quick way to cook meats, fish, seafood and vegetables. Roasting is to cook food with dry heat with the aid of fat.
Up next, the yellow peppers and tomatoes, lined up to be broiled.
Next, Eryngii mushroom.
Salad dressing.
Here's a big bowl of greens with pasta.

30 minutes later, the chickens are ready to be distributed into respective plates.

Ready to be served.
And finally, omgosh! Here's the whole plate of meal . Everything is yummy but fattening.Honestly, I feel kinda bad and regret now.I went to gym very early on the next day. But my fitness instructor told me it's okay to have this meal once in a while. A healthy lifestyle doesn't mean you have to deprive  yourself  from things you like to eat. As long as, you don't eat fast food so much that it derails your goals or makes you sick, then it's okay. One bad meal doesn't make you fat. Too much of a good thing can be bad too. But one thing, just make sure it doesn't become a habit and keep up with your healthy eating.

Treadmill today : Ran for 5km and 360 calories burnt. Duration is 52:47 minutes. I hope I burnt at least half of the calories intake of the meal I had last night.

Remember, do/eat things in moderation and your weight loss will be sustainable.
